Educational Qualification Details :

Postal Assistant / Shorting Assistant :

◆ The candidate who are planning to appear in exam must have passed the 12th Standard or Equivalent examination from a recognized Board / University.

◆ Salary Details : Rs – 25,500 /- Rs – 81,100 /- Per Month

Selection Process :

The examination will consist of a Computer Based Examination ( Tier-l ), Descriptive Paper ( Tier-ll ), And Skill Test and Typing Test ( Tier-lll ).

Tier-l ( Computer Based Examination ) :

1. English Language : 25 Questions and 50 Marks

2. General Intelligence : 25 Questions and 50 Marks

3. Quantitative Aptitude : 25 Questions and 50 Marks

4. General Awareness : 25 Questions and 50 Marks

Total : 100 Questions and 200 Marks & Time : 60 Minutes

◆ The Tier-l Examination will consist of Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions only.

◆ The questions will be set both in English / Hindi Language.

◆ There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

Exam Centre in Odisha Location Indiana Postal :

◆ Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Rourkela & Sambalpur.

Tier-ll ( Descriptive Paper ) :

◆ Tier-ll Paper will be a Descriptive Paper of 100 Marks in Pen and Paper Mode.

◆ The duration of the Descriptive Paper will be for one hour.

◆ The paper would comprises writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and a Letter / Application of approximately 150-200 words.

◆ The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-ll would be 33%.

◆ The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or English.

◆ Part Paper written in Hindi and part in English will be awarded zero marks.

Tier-lll ( Skill Test / Typing Test ) :

◆ Data Entry Speed of 8000 KDPH on Computer.

◆ The duration of the Test will be 15 Minutes.

◆ Printed matter in English containing about 2000 – 2200 key depression.

Syllabus Details :

English Language :

Spot the error, fill in the blanks, synonyms, homonyms, antonyms, spelling, detecting mis spelt words, idioms and phrases, one word substitution, improvement of sentences, active / passive voice of verbs, conversion into direct indirect narration, shuffling of sentences in a passage, cloze passage, compression passage.

General Intelligence :

It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal types. The test will include questions on semantic analogy, symbolic operation, symbolic / number analogy, trends, figural analogy, space orientation, semantic classification, venn diagram, symbolic number classification, drawing inferences, figural classification, punched hole, pattern folding & unfolding, semantic series, figural pattern-folding and completion, number series, embedded figures, figural series, critical thinking, problem solving, emotional intelligence, word building, social intelligence, coding and deciding other sub-topics, if any numerical operations.

Quantitative Aptitude :

Number System – Computation of whole number, decimal and fractions, relationship between numbers.

Fundamental Arithmetical Operations –

Percentages, ratio and proportion, square roots, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, partnership business, mixture and allegations, time and distance, time and work.

Algebra – Basic algebraic identities of school algebra and elementary surds and graphs of linear equations.

Geometry – Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts, triangle and its various kinds of centres, congruence and similarities of triangles, circle and its chords, tangents, Angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles.

Mensuration – Triangle, quadrilateral, regular polygon, circle, right prism, right circular cone, right circular cylinder, sphere, hemispheres, rectangular paralleled, regular right pyramid with triangular or square base.

Trigonometry – Trigonometry, complementary angles, height and distance.

Statistical Charts – Use of Tables and Graphs, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar-diagram, Pie-chart.

General Awareness :

Questions are designed to test the candidates general awareness of the environmental around him and its application to Society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of Current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be excepted of an educated person. The test will also included questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic, General Polity and Scientific Research.
